Hey folks,
It’s been awhile since the last official FlashPunk update, but in that time several other developers have chipped in, added features, and fixed outstanding bugs in the framework in my absence. So now, to keep updates frequent I have made developer Draknek’s branch the official download branch from the site.
If you’re a new developer and you’re not sure what that means, it means more updates are coming soon, and developer Draknek is going to be maintaining the codebase while I attempt to work on the next major revision and some other tools that I hope will help 2D game developers on their adventures.
Cheers!
Hi people! I have some cool news for you.
According to the Ogmo Editor creator, Matt Thorson, Ogmo Editor has become an open source project! This is great news for the project itself and for the developers using it: it will help the project to evolve, and it will help developers customising it to fit their specific needs on their games.
So, what are you waiting for? Take a look at its source here!
PD: For those who are waiting for the Weekly Recap, I’m ashamed to admit that I forgot to do it last week. But don’t worry, next week there will be a special weekly recap containing the two weeks!
Thought I’d bring some attention to this video tutorial on integrating Box2D into FlashPunk games.
If you’ve ever used Flashpunk or Box2D, you’ll know that they’re pretty amazing tools for Flash game development. However, they don’t play all that nicely together.
To fix this, I’ve put together Box2FP, a library which combines these two libraries. Below is a video tutorial of how it works (please note that you should read the documentation for Flashpunk and Box2D before using Box2FP).
I was talking with Chevy, suggesting some cool things to do on the blog… and he decided to make me an editor! So… you’ll see me here pretty often, updating the frontpage with interesting forum activity, FlashPunk games and projects. Let me introduce myself.
I’m Rolpege, and my real name is Abel Toy i Díez (we have two surnames here). I’m pretty active at the FlashPunk forums, and you may know me as well for the Punk.UI project I mentioned some posts ago, or for PunkWeek. I create games mainly using AS3 + FlashPunk, and I enjoy doing websites as well. I don’t think I have anything more to add, if you want to know me further, then feel free to contact me or chat on the forums, skype or IRC!
