I’ve posted a roundup of Ludum Dare 22 games made in FlashPunk over on my personal blog, so check it out!

If you haven’t heard of Ludum Dare, it’s a tri-annual international game jam in which hundreds of developers try to create a game in just 48-hours. With just one theme announced when the jam starts, the results are always incredibly surprising, and FlashPunk users have been making a great show over the past year in Ludum Dare submissions.

The best part is that every single one of these games has its FlashPunk source code available on its Ludum Dare page! So for those of you who are interested in developing, or just want to see how these developers got things to work, you’re welcome to download their game and check out the guts.

Enjoy! I hope you all take part at the next Ludum Dare!

Hey folks,

It’s been awhile since the last official FlashPunk update, but in that time several other developers have chipped in, added features, and fixed outstanding bugs in the framework in my absence. So now, to keep updates frequent I have made developer Draknek’s branch the official download branch from the site.

If you’re a new developer and you’re not sure what that means, it means more updates are coming soon, and developer Draknek is going to be maintaining the codebase while I attempt to work on the next major revision and some other tools that I hope will help 2D game developers on their adventures.

Cheers!

  • indie(Function);‘s the 4th and 5th releases of their radio show and magazine are now available!
  • indie(Magazine); Issue #5 featured part 1 of my introduction to FlashPunk tutorial, Punk Invaders (based off of Space Invaders). Check it out and leave feedback!
  • capsid posted an interesting tutorial on trail effect on entities! Check it out if you want an extra effect in your games.
  • Need to improve your typing? Chman posted his fun little game MoonType, which is a typing game that could help you brush up on your skills.
  • Deamon released a XML level editor. It even saves and loads in it’s own format (.dle).
  • Vartagh posted a demo of his upcoming game Steampack. It’s a lovely platformer in which you must collect money and rubies using your jetpack while avoiding obstacles!

Thanks for Bret Hudson/bretboy129 (leader of indie(Function);) for collecting these articles for me.
